Printing in Sheffield

For the second year running, Year 3 pupils from  Totley Primary School in Sheffield, worked with artist Alan Birch, investigating the world of printmaking. Pupils had already undertaken extensive research, looking into screen printing, the work of William Paxton and looked at pattern and symmetry. Having the luxury of a full day, the pupils were shown the work of Alan Birch and then produced their own drawings, engravings, relief prints and were even given a quick screen printing demonstration. Pupils explored the theme of natural forms and used their drawings as a basis for their  brilliant work.

"Glad you enjoyed the day Alan. The kids had a genuinely great time. We have mounted the work for display today and it looks amazing! Have had lots of positive feedback from parents too. Thanks again for your time and effort." Ben Paxman. Year 3 teacher
